Spotlight: Free Wheelin’ with Mad Dogs

Adrenaline junkies may want to check out Mad Dogs: a Hong Kong-based adventure company that organizes inter-country biking trips all over the region. The company was founded by Humphrey Wilson, an auditor-turned-cycler-extraordinaire, who moved to Hong Kong in an unconventional way: via a 17,692-kilometer bike ride across Europe and Asia. “That’s the idea behind Mad Dogs—you don’t need a whole year to complete a massive achievement,” says Humphrey. The programs are set up to accommodate both beginner and advanced cyclists. “You’ll tend to find that people don’t really want to rush through it—they want to take in the landscapes and culture along the way,” he adds. Want to join the next trip? There’s a Hanoi to Bangkok ride, which passes through Laos, coming up on September 27-October 4 (from US$2,250 per person).
