Hot Opening: Ki Niseko Ski Resort

All this swampy humidity is making a snowy escape to northern Japan sound pretty appealing. Add to that the soon-to-open Ki Niseko hotel, nestled into the base of Grand Hirafu Mountain, and you’re really on to something. Just seconds away from the mountain’s ski lift, the hotel makes for a romantic ski-in, ski-out venue among Hokkaido’s serene slopes. For snow bunnies, there’s plenty of fresh powder, and after hitting the slopes guests can thaw out in the natural onsen hot springs. The rooms themselves look lovely, with big windows overlooking the slopes, the Mount Yotei volcano or the resort, and contemporary Japanese design aesthetics.
