Hong Kong welcomed a new face to the boutique hotel scene last month: The Pottinger, which naturally overlooks the stony stairwell of the same name. This 68-room Chinoiserie-styled hotel celebrates Hong Kong heritage with locally sourced accessories—look for handmade jade carvings, porcelain miniatures, antique vases—and a collaboration with iconic Hong Kong photographer Fan Ho. You can find 10 of Ho’s images strewn throughout the hotel, and every flat-screen TV is loaded with a documentary about Ho, produced in-house by the Pottinger team. As for the rooms, expect the luxury of space, big bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and some romantic touches in the Chinese silk-screen headboards and pretty latticework. Downstairs is cool new bar The Envoy, and an Italian resto is coming soon. Check online for opening deals, which change daily.
