Ask an Expert: Asia’s Best Wellness Getaways

Luxe Nomad founder Stephanie Chan
Luxe Nomad founder Stephanie Chai

Founded by former model and TV host Stephanie Chai, The Luxe Nomad has quickly become a go-to hotel and villa booking portal for flash-packing Asia travelers. Stephanie talks about travel trends and wellness getaways.

What kind of person do you target?
Stephanie Chai: Our target traveler is 25-40 years old. We’re like the Kate Spade or the Coach of travel booking: I don’t want the 1 percent—they don’t need to book online, or check for deals. We want to be a little more accessible.

What are your travel trend forecasts?
SC: Trends are moving towards hidden gems, such as Bhutan, or the northern lights in Norway. People are also into private villas—
it often turns out to be much cheaper than hotels.

What’s happening in terms of wellness travel?
SC: People are stressed by their lifestyle and environment, and they yearn for the whole “Eat, Pray, Love” experience. Personally,
I love the Fivelements Puri Ahimsa in Bali, Chiva-Som International Health Resort in Hua Hin, and the Anantara Golden Triangle
in Chiang Rai.

Any favorite trips recently?
SC: I went to Sri Lanka a few months ago and it was stunning. The civil war is over, and the people there seemed to be very friendly and happy. I think it’s a great alternative to India. Check out daily flash sales and everyday discounts on four- and five-star properties across Asia at
