The St. Regis may be a century old, but this hotel is brand-spanking new. From the outside, you can’t miss the striking all-glass façade, and inside, you’ll find art deco-inspired rooms blended with Chinese elements. It seems this old dog has learned a few new tricks, with in-room iPad controllers, plus Nespresso machines and massage rain showers. There’s also an outdoor “sky” bar with great views of the city, and the bloody marys from The Drawing Room resto are spiked with Sichuan peppers. And yes, those signature St. Regis butlers will be there too.
Opening rates from RMB1,750 ($286) through 2014. 99 Tidu St., Chengdu, (+86) 28-6287-6666, www.stregis.com/chengdu.
