Spotlight: Flightradar24

Aviation enthusiasts, you’ll appreciate this: a friend of mine just introduced me to Flightradar24—a flight-tracking app that picks up information from flight transponders and data from the Federal Aviation Administration to display airplanes flying around in real time. Not only can you identify planes overhead and chart their flight paths just by pointing your phone camera, but you can also see flight stats like speed and altitude. More practically, the app’s data has also been used following natural disasters to track world leaders’ private planes. Geeking out yet?
The ad-free version costs $28 from iTunes and Google Play.
